23 Weeks

This week started rough because I got sick. I knew I’d been exposed to an illness late last week but I hoped I wouldn’t get sick. I did. It’s basically a cold but I’m achy. No fever. I’m not taking any medicines while pregnant (unless I need it) so I’m avoiding Tylenol or dr. approved […]

This week started rough because I got sick. I knew I’d been exposed to an illness late last week but I hoped I wouldn’t get sick. I did. It’s basically a cold but I’m achy. No fever. I’m not taking any medicines while pregnant (unless I need it) so I’m avoiding Tylenol or dr. approved cold meds if I can avoid it. Lots of Vitamin C, chicken noodle soup, water, and rest for this girl. Definitely missed my daily 45 minute walks and missed the light weight lifting I was doing. I did get a couple workouts in.

This weekend I had to work Saturday at the National Trademark Expo, so the weekend felt a little short. But, we made the most of Sunday and went apple picking in Markham, VA at Stribling Orchard. This is the 4th year we’ve gone apple picking. So fun!

How far along? 23 Weeks

How big is baby? The size of an ear of corn or a grapefruit (umm these are very different sizes??? and are also smaller than last week’s papaya): 11.4 inches and 1.1 lbs

Maternity clothes? Absolutely. Love maternity clothes. I’m realizing a lot of my looser sweaters will likely work still so I’m dragging them out of the storage bins

Sleep: woke up at 4 am Monday morning and couldn’t go back to sleep 🙁 eventually I did, but it was slow. I went to bed by 9 every night this week. Wednesday morning I was up at 5:30 am so I decided to go downstairs, eat some applesauce, look over all our finances, stress, and then go to the gym. Sleeping would have been much preferred.

Best moment this week: apple picking

Movement: due to the anterior placenta, I don’t feel much movement, but I did see a few “super kicks” – actually saw what my belly suddenly pop out multiple times but didn’t feel it at all, creeeeepy

Food cravings: chicken noodle soup, chicken, chocolate ice cream; in the past when I have written about “cravings” I’ve listed things that sounded really good all week. This week I think I had my first true craving. I wanted Diet Cranberry Ginger Ale so badly Wednesday, I could taste it. I finally got some Thursday, but I was going crazy needing this drink.

Food Aversions: nothing really

Gender: Baby’s a boy!

Labor Signs: this question is irrelevant until later

Pregnancy Symptoms: acne is finally better jinxed that, it is bad again; I got sick; I think my feet are a little bigger because most of my shoes are tight

Belly Button in or out? In but it is bigger…

What I miss: Sleeping through the night. I know, I know, I’m going to miss this a whole lot more in a few months.

What I am looking forward to: baby shower in a week
